The Government of Japan has agreed to provide Rs 12 million to the Secretariat of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, SAARC.

The funding will support programs carried out under the SAARC Japan Special Fund. Japan is providing the assistance needed to help implement activities under this mechanism.
On Monday, the SAARC Secretariat announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the assistance.
SAARC Secretary General Golam Sarwar and Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru signed the agreement at a program held at the SAARC Secretariat, the organization said in a statement.
Officials expressed hope that the support will strengthen friendship, cooperation, and relations between Japan and SAARC member states.
