SIRAHA, March 4: Asheshwar Yadav, a House of Representatives candidate from Siraha Constituency-3 representing the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has been arrested.
Yadav was detained on Tuesday late at night during the election silence period after police recovered cash from his vehicle.

According to the District Police Office (DPO), Siraha, a Scorpio (Pra 2–02–001 Cha 087) heading toward the Siraha district headquarters from Madar along the Nepal–India border was stopped at around 12:30 AM at Shivchowk during a joint security check. During the inspection, police recovered Rs 487,000 in cash from the vehicle.
Following the seizure, Yadav and four others were taken into custody, a source at the DPO, Siraha, said.
Police have sent Yadav and the others, along with the seized cash and ballot papers recovered from the vehicle, to the District Election Office, Siraha, for necessary action.
