In the memorandum, they have asked the government to provide relief immediately in Rautahat, Bara, Parsa and other Tarai districts most affected by flooding.

Several major rivers in the Tarai were seeing "excessive levels of water", the letter said.

Talking to Republica former lawmaker Govinda Chaudhary accused the Khil Raj Regmi-led government of not taking any serious action in the flood hit areas of Tarai to rescue the people.

“The security forces, respective district administration offices, I/NGOs, and concerned authorities should come forward to provide relief to the people in the flood-hit areas of the Tarai,” the lawmakers further pleaded.
