KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The Election Commission (EC) has appointed election officers and set up offices in all seven provinces for the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25.
According to EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, district judges have been appointed as election officers. The provincial appointments include Bhimaraj Prasai (Koshi), Shubhnath Puri (Madhesh), Geeta Shrestha (Bagmati), Himal Belbase (Gandaki), Prakashraj Pandit (Lumbini), Deepak Dhakal (Karnali) and Bhuvansingh Thapa (Sudur Paschim).
Elections for 19 vacant seats will begin on March 4.

Election schedule:
January 3, 10:00–11:00 AM: Publication of preliminary voter list; objections and verification.
January 6, 3:00–4:00 PM: Publication of final voter list.
January 7, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM: Candidate nominations.
January 8, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM: Objections to candidates.
January 11, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Withdrawal of candidacy; 1:00–2:00 PM final candidate list.
January 12, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Distribution of election symbols.
Voting at designated polling centers will be held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
