DSA coach Swapan Shah said that his team is filled with junior players and lacked preparation. "Our senior team is participating in a tournament in Kolkata and we had to come to Nepal on short notice with our junior team," said Shah.

New Diamond coach Kumar Rai said that despite the easy win, his side needs to improve in many areas. "We exposed some weaknesses in spiking, defense and serve. We´ll overcome all these weaknesses by our next match," said Rai.

Meanwhile, tournament favorite Nepal Police Club edged past the host Eastern Region Volleyball Association in straight sets in the second match of the day. Police Club, which featured national team stars like Kopila Upreti, Nita Shah and Chuda Khadka, was too mighty for the young players of Eastern Region. Police Club won the match 25-7, 25-12, 25-12. Chuda Khadka was adjudged the player-of-the-match.

It was the second consecutive defeat for the host, which had lost to Western Region in the inaugural match of the tournament on Sunday.

Eastern Region coach Birendra Chadhary attributed his side´s defeat to lack of regular training.

Police Club coach Rupesh Bista said that they won the match easily as the opponent team was relatively weaker. "We are confident of winning the tournament and the victory in the first match has boosted our morale. However, the upcoming match against Western Region is the most crucial match for us," said Bista.

Police Club will take on Western Region on Tuesday while Armed Police Force (APF) Club will lock horns with DSA Koch Bihar.
