SIRAHA, May 25: Nepali Congress (NC) central member Dr Shekhar Koirala has said that an environment conductive to election will be enabled only after the Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers resigned from the post of Chief Justice.

"Dialogue with parties´ leaders protesting the election including Mohan Baidhya, Upendra Yadav and indigenous nationalities leaders will take place in a meaningful way once the Chairman resigned from the post of Chief Justice,” Dr Koirala said, adding that, "The Constituent Assembly (CA) election will take place on participation of all parties and a new constitution will also be framed." At a face-to-face with journalists at Siraha Headquarters today, he further said that the CA election could take place even if he did not resign from the CJ, however constitution will not be drafted.

The Unified CPN (Maoist) and Madhesi Morcha are standing against the holding of CA election, he claimed. He said that the UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi Morcha have backtracked from the earlier agreed agenda that includes disclosure of property, provision of threshold and downsizing the CA strength from 601 to 491.
