KATHMANDU, July 8: The floods triggered by the incessant rainfall in China in the Bhotekoshi River has caused significant damage in the Timure area of Rasuwa.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Rasuwa, a massive flood triggered by continuous rainfall on the Chinese side at around 3 am on Tuesday morning in Rasuwa Gosaikunda Rural Municipality Ward No. 2, Rasuwagadhi, has left 18 people missing. This includes 9 Nepalis, 6 Chinese nationals and 3 security personnel. Additionally, 9 individuals have been rescued, including one Nepal Police personnel, one Armed Police Force (APF) officer, and seven local residents.
According to the APF Armed, those missing include Assistant Sub-Inspector Lal Bahadur Shrestha and Police Constables Munna Thakur and Lokendra Bohora, all deployed at the Area Police Office in Timure under Nepal Police.
Rasuwa Flood Update: 18 missing, 9 rescued
Among the missing are six Chinese nationals. According to the list released by the Armed Police Force, the missing Chinese citizens are Yu Yue, Li Huaqing, Yang Chuan, Yu Hai Hang, You Xiao Qiu, and Jou Yong.
Among the missing Nepali nationals are Jipan Chaudhary, Santosh Dait, Buddhiram Tharu, Laxminarayan Tharu, and Suresh Tharu from Bardiya; Narendra BK from Baglung; container driver Phurba Lama; mixer driver Govinda Moktan; and Hilux driver Lokman Tamang.
A total of 94 police personnel have been mobilized for the rescue operation in Rasuwa following the flood disaster. According to the DPO, Rasuwa, multiple units from different police posts have joined the efforts. The deployment includes 20 officers led by Inspector Krishna Bahadur Dhital from the District Police Office, 28 under Sub-Inspector Dhan Bahadur Tamang from the Area Police Office in Timure, 12 under Assistant Sub-Inspector Suman Mahant Giri from the Rasuwagadhi Police Post, 8 from the Syabrubesi Police Post, 7 from the Haku Police Post, 9 from the Mailung Temporary Police Post, and 10 from the Betrabati Police Post.
A team of 20 personnel led by Inspector Krishna Bahadur Dhital from the DPO is on the ground. Similarly, 28 officers under the command of Sub-Inspector Dhan Bahadur Tamang from the Area Police Office, Timure, have been deployed.
The DPO, Rasuwa, has reported that the road from Dhunche to Timure has been obstructed due to damage caused by the flood along the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality Ward No. 5. The road surface has cracked, making travel impossible along that stretch.
