KATHMANDU, June 26: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order in response to the petition filed by Mukul Dhakal, claiming to be the General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). The order was issued by a bench led by Justice Kumar Regmi on Thursday.
Dhakal has requested an order to allow him to assume the responsibilities of the General Secretary of RSP. However, the SC has called both parties for a discussion on an interim order on Tuesday, July 1.

RSP had taken disciplinary action against Dhakal after he submitted a report created during a nationwide tour, accusing him of violating party discipline by making it public. In response, Dhakal approached the Election Commission for justice. The Commission, however, did not recognize the removal and did not provide any information regarding the new committee. Following this, Dhakal filed a request with the RSP to convene a meeting as General Secretary.
However, RSP indicated it would not accept Dhakal as General Secretary, as they had already informed the Election Commission about the decision the previous year. Dhakal then moved to the SC.
Dhakal filed the petition on Wednesday, June 25.
