Second India-Nepal Startup Connect held in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu hosted the 2nd India-Nepal Startup Connect on Friday, serving as a curtain-raiser for Startup Mahakumbh (SMK) 2025. 



During the event, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, emphasized the country's push for emerging technologies, including AI, and called for stronger India-Nepal startup cooperation, said the embassy in a press release.

Similarly, Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava highlighted India's digital transformation and its impact on startups, citing the interoperability of Nepal’s FonePay with India’s UPI. Representatives from Nepal's government, academia, and private sector discussed startup policies, investment opportunities, and digital public infrastructure, the press release further stated.  


According to the embassy, Nepali startups were invited to join SMK 2025, where a dedicated Nepal pavilion will be featured. The event reinforced India-Nepal collaboration in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
