KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Voting at the ongoing 11th National General Convention of the CPN-UML is progressing at a slow pace, raising the likelihood that the process will take significantly longer to complete. Although polling began at 9:20 AM on Tuesday, only 532 delegates had cast their votes within the first five hours, according to the party’s Election Commission.
With a total of 2,263 delegates eligible to vote, the current pace suggests that polling could extend well beyond the initially anticipated timeframe. Voting is being conducted at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu using electronic voting machines arranged by the party’s Central Election Commission.

A total of 642 candidates are contesting for 301 seats in the central committee, including 19 office-bearer positions.
