Meanwhile, Gupta beat Pradip Rokka 12-10, 11-8 and 11-4. In the mixed doubles, Khatri teamed up with Anish Shrestha to beat Prajjwal Ratna Raj Bhandari and Alina Maharjan 11-6, 11-9 and 11-7. The pair of Gupta and Bibek Gautam clinched the title of boys´ doubles defeating the pair of Rokka and Pravin Sherpa. In the girl´s doubles of school level matches, Sunita Lama and Arika Maharjan overpowered Norden Tamang and Renuka Magar 11-5, 11-5 and 11-8. Krishna Thapa and Sonu Thapa Magar finished first in the mixed doubles defeating Mani Kumar Lama and Sama Shrestha 12-14, 11-5, 11-8 and 11-7.
In the boys´ U-16, Lama beat Nehal Shrestha 11-5, 11-6, 9-11 and 11-1 while Krishna Thapa clinched the U-14 boys´ singles with the victory over Nehal Shrestha 11-6, 11-6, 7-11 and 11-6. Robin Sadh took the first position in the U-12 boys´ singles defeating Prasanna Khadka 11-8, 11-5, 6-11 and 11-8. Altogether 375 players from seven colleges and 12 schools had participated in the three-day tournament held at the Table Tennis Covered Hall, Lainchaur.

KATHMANDU: Defending champions Prime College and National Campus have fixed their semifinal berths on Friday in the 16th Professional Gyan Carnival Inter-college Basketball Tournament. Prime beat Nobel Academy 69-35 with 12 points from Loden Gurung. In another quarterfinal, National defeated VS Niketan College 15-7 in the added time as the score was level on 37-37 in the regular time.
NIMS, Daffodil into QF
KATHMANDU: NIMS and the host Daffodil School secured their quarterfinal spots in the girls´ category in the ongoing Fourth Daffodil Senior Basketball Tournament on Friday. NIMS beat Bright Land School 36-7 with 22 points from Srijana Khadka and the host defeated Clinton School 22-18. In the boys´ category, NIMS saw off Malpi School 61-40 while Sambotta routed Unique School 50-26. Young Heart overcame Mount Kailash School 42-37. In the Fifth Daffodil Junior boys´ Football Tournament, TIA edged past Brihaspati School 5-4. Pravakar scored four goals for TIA while Brihaspati´s Kushal scored a hat-trick in the game. In the other match, the hosts Daffodil were held on at 1-1 by EPS.
Odyssey, Neric into final
KATHMANDU: Odyssey International and Neric School have confirmed their position in final in the First Ideal Junior Boys´ and Staff Basketball Tournament on Friday. In the junior boys´ category, Odyssey beat AIA 16-15 with five points from Sabin Lama. With the help of 10 points from Binod Bhandari, Neric defeated the hosts Ideal English School 15-10. In the staff category, Saipal overcame NOBS 49-43. Laxman Gurung scored 12 points for the winning team.
Innovative TIA triumph
KATHMANDU : Innovative School and TIA were successful in registering victory on Friday in the U-14 Inter-school Basketball Festival. Innovative beat Ganesh School 32-31 while TIA defeated Rose Bud School 35-28. In the other boys´ matches, Golden Peak ousted Valley Public 36-24 while Angel´s Heart overpowered Mount Glory School. Ideal Model thrashed Neric School 29-16. Similarly, HHCA registered win over Gyanodaya School. Deneb School faced a 20-14 defeat at the hands of Little Angles School. In the girls´ category, Gyanodaya, Mahendra Bhawan, Angel´s Heart and Little Angles won their respective matches.
Newton, New Diamond into final
KATHMANDU: Newton and New Diamond School have fixed their final place in the boys´ and girls´ category respectively on Friday in the ongoing Newton Third Valley-wide Inter School Volleyball Tournament. Newton beat Kamana School 25-16, 25-9, 25-14 while Nightingale School edged past Angel´s Heart 25-15, 25-15, 24-26, 25-21 to fix the final place in boys´ category. In the girls´ category, New Diamond defeated Anal Jyoti 25-10, 25-16, 25-11 and Angel´s Heart overcame Gyan Sudha School 25-12, 25-16, 25-14.
Himalayan Sherpa in final
SIMARA: A brace from Allan Oryek helped Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) edged out Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club 2-1 in the semifinal of the Second Simara Gold Cup on Thursday. In the semifinal match of Group B, Ugandan striker Allan Oryek scored for HSC just 40 seconds after the kick off. Jawalakhel´s Amar Subba equalized in the 27th minute. Oryek, who was later adjudged the man-of-the-match, scored a second to secure their place in the final. HSC´s Tanzanian playmaker Castory D Mumbara received a second yellow card during the match keeping him out of the final. HSC will face APF in the title clash on Saturday.
