KATHMANDU, June 4: The statements recording of 39 individuals including ‘People’s Commander’ Durga Prasai, appointed by the ‘Joint People's Movement Committee,’ have been completed in the case filed against those accused of involvement in the violent protest at Tinkune, Kathmandu, on March 28.
The protest at Tinkune, led by Prasai, turned violent, resulting in the deaths of two people, arson at private homes, government vehicles, and a medicinal herb processing center. The case is being heard in the Kathmandu District Court before Judge Dhruvraj Karki. Out of 50 accused, only 39 have appeared in court.

The recording of their statements was completed on Tuesday. With the conclusion of the statements, the detention hearing will begin from Wednesday. The case filed against the 50 individuals includes charges of treason, criminal disturbance and organized crime. Among them, 8 individuals, including Prasai, have also been charged with murder and attempted murder.
Another case was filed against 11 individuals for criminal disturbance. In that case, all were ordered to be released on bail. In connection with this incident, Rabindra Mishra, senior vice-president of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and committee member-secretary, and Dhawal Shamsher Rana, RPP general secretary, who were arrested, were released on bail.
