Free TB screening in eight wards of KMC
According to the chief of the health section at the municipality, Parama Nand Bhatta, the detection camps were conducted at Pitambar Health Post of Ward No. 8, Basic Health Centre of Ward No. 5 and Urban Health Centre of Ward No. 1. A team comprising a doctor and health workers has been searching for tuberculosis patients with the use of a portable X-ray machine set on AI technology.
A total of 688 persons have been tested for tuberculosis. Among them, 42 were found suspicious, and their tests were forwarded to Mahakali Provincial Hospital for further screening, which applies the GeneXpert test.
Section Chief Bhatta added that the X-rays equipped with AI help find microorganisms, which were previously difficult to detect through normal X-ray use. “The digital computer system is therefore very helpful to identify potential tuberculosis patients,” he said, adding, “This helps in identifying patients facing risk even without testing sputum.”
