'Thief killed in locals' retaliation'

BHADRAPUR, Feb 11: "An Indian thieve" was killed in local people´s retaliation in Jhapa Thursday night.



According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Ali Miya (40) of Lohagadha of India died when villagers tried to thwart his attempt to whisk away a pair of oxen from the shed of Tara Pyakurel of Pathariya-8. [break]



Locals caught him when he was fleeing chasing away the oxen at Pathariya-5. His two other friends Nur Alam and Saifuddhin Alam, however, managed to escape, said SP Rabindra Sharma.



A local, Dinanath Adhikari, sustained bullet injury when the gang of thieves open firing at locals. He is said to be out of danger.



Soon after the incident, a team from the district under the command of Police Inspector was deployed in the area. The deceased´s body has been sent to Mechi Zonal Hospital for postmortem.
