KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Nepal welcomed 1,158,459 foreign tourists in 2025, marking modest growth from 1,147,548 visitors in 2024, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The increase reflects Nepal’s continued appeal as a leading travel destination in the region.
December alone saw 98,190 tourist arrivals, including 30,093 visitors from India, 8,680 from China, 6,605 from the United States, 4,980 from Bangladesh, 4,419 from Australia, 4,234 from Thailand, 3,793 from the United Kingdom, 2,758 from Myanmar, and 2,429 from Malaysia.

For the year, India remained the largest source of international visitors with 292,438 arrivals, followed by the United States (112,316), China (58,684), the United Kingdom (57,545), Bangladesh (49,357), Australia (37,550), Sri Lanka (30,243), Thailand (30,227), and Germany (24,763), the NTB said.
Nepal’s highest-ever tourist inflow was recorded in 2019, with 1,197,191 visitors, underscoring the country’s steady recovery in international tourism.
