KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala accused CPN-UML leaders and cadres of rushing toward any open land they see to grab it. Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday while commenting on the Land Bill, Koirala charged the UML with grabbing properties wherever possible.
“Right now, there is a land-related bill.. The UML eyes fall wherever they see an open space. Just look around,” Koirala said, adding, “Take the Gokarna Resort for example, even King Birendra’s property has not been spared by UML.”

He claimed that UML’s control can be seen over every piece of open land. “Look at the Litchi Garden in Pokhara, look at the Giribandhu Tea Estate. Everywhere you hear the UML’s name,” he remarked.
Koirala further pointed out that former Federal Affairs Minister Raj Kumar Gupta had already resigned, but Land Management Minister Balram Adhikari was still holding on to his post. “The Land Reform Minister is forcibly clinging to the position. Even the UML committee of Kaski district has demanded his resignation,” Koirala said.
He also targeted Ranjita Shrestha, chairperson of the Nagarik Unmukti Party. “It turns out there is a broker from Resham Chaudhary’s party. If even a lawmaker becomes a broker, what will be the state of the country?” Koirala remarked.
