KATHMANDU, Oct 9: CPN-UML leader Mahesh Bartaula has publicly questioned the accountability and transparency of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, accusing him of playing a central role in infiltrating the Gen Z movement, which escalated into widespread vandalism and arson.
Bartaula claimed that peaceful Gen Z protests demanding an end to corruption and poor governance were deliberately infiltrated by groups aiming to incite violence. He further labeled Minister Aryal as a “24-carat stakeholder” in these disruptive activities.

“He is a sponsored 24-carat stakeholder behind the selective destruction of our history, heritage and official documents as well as the vandalism, arson and looting of private homes and commercial properties,” Bartaula wrote on social media.
The UML leader also demanded clarification regarding the status of weapons reportedly looted from the police during the unrest. Directly questioning Minister Aryal’s accountability, Bartaula asked, “Home Minister, where are the weapons looted from the police outposts?” Bartaula claimed that Aryal possesses full knowledge of their current location and the identities of those responsible.
