KATHMANDU, July 17: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has said efforts are still being made to politically isolate his party, but insisted that the UML remains strong and capable of moving forward on its own.
Speaking at the launch of the new version of the party's website and mobile application at the UML central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, on Friday, Oli acknowledged that the party had faced setbacks but rejected suggestions that it had been weakened beyond recovery.
UML is immortal, democracy is alive: Chair Oli
"We have suffered setbacks, but we have not been finished. Today's program sends a message that we will renew ourselves and move forward," he said. "Attempts to isolate us are still continuing."
Oli said the UML does not depend on the support of other political forces for its survival, describing it as a strong and independent party built on its own identity and strength.
"We are not a vine that cannot stand without clinging to something else. The UML is an independent, strong and mighty tree. We have not grown on the strength of others, but on our own," he said.
