"I am not able to concentrate while studying as the fear of earthquake keeps haunting me," said Naresh Malla, one of the injured students. He has sustained injuries to his leg. Whenever he watches TV or reads newspapers, he feels scared.School teacher, Mina Upadhyay, said school children have been acting weird after the earthquake. The disaster has traumatized them.
"Even when the students see leaves shaking on the trees they run away," she said.
Another school teacher, Ganesh Nepali, said school children are now suffering from psychological problems following the earthquake. He further informed that the studetns are asking a number of questions about the earthquake.
Similarly, Laxmi Dutta Bhatta, school principal at Dhangadi Higher Secondary School, informed that the students frequently run out of their classrooms fearing earthquakes.
"Our classrooms have developed cracks and this scare us," said Sanjay Chaudhary, a seventh grader. "We fear another earthquakes will bring down the school building and kill us."
Students have been suffering from psychological problems after the April 25 earthquake, according to District Education Office Ganesh Bahadur Singh.
Meanwhile, Subhesh Raj Kayastha, a doctor at Seti Zonal Hospital, also told Republica that school children have been left traumatized by the devastating earthquake and that they need counseling before being sent back to school.
