SIRAHA, July 13: Three children from the same family drowned in a water-filled ditch in Golbazaar, Siraha district, on Sunday.
Police said the children drowned in a water-filled ditch near a livestock market in Choharba, Ward No. 7 of Golbazaar Municipality. The ditch had been dug to collect water for livestock at the market.

According to the District Police Office, Siraha, the deceased have been identified as 12-year-old Sabnam Khatun, 10-year-old Rubina Khatun and seven-year-old Saiful Sheikh, all from Jigrawa in Rautahat district. The family had been living in a rented house in Golbazaar-7 and earned a living by collecting scrap.
Meanwhile, the body of a child who had gone missing in the Rapti River in Banke district was recovered on Sunday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Pratit Singh Rathore of the District Police Office, Banke, said the body of nine-year-old Shulav Raut of Duduwa Rural Municipality-9 was recovered from the river. However, 11-year-old Khushi Sijapati, who also went missing, remains unaccounted for.
