KATHMANDU, May 6: Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has intensified disciplinary actions against its personnel for uploading unauthorized content on social media platforms.
According to APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa, a total of 166 personnel, ranging from assistant inspectors to orderlies, have faced departmental action over the past two years for posting photos and videos in uniform on platforms such as Facebook, Messenger, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, IMO and WeChat without approval and in violation of the organization’s code of conduct.
Of those penalized, 12 were assistant sub-inspectors, 6 sub-inspectors, 9 senior constables, 5 constables, 10 assistant constables, 121 personnel ranked as jawans, and 3 were orderlies. Disciplinary measures included verbal warnings, promotions withheld, caution notices, and counseling, with 118 receiving formal reprimands.
The APF has also taken action against personnel for making negative remarks about the organization in media and online. To strengthen oversight, the APF Headquarters has established a dedicated unit to monitor social media activity of its personnel.
Furthermore, four additional staff members: one assistant constable and three jawans, are currently under investigation and pending disciplinary action, as per a directive issued by headquarters to subordinate offices on April 11.
