KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Gen Z activist Miraj Dhungana has declared that his newly announced political party will not participate in any elections unless Nepal adopts a directly elected executive system and grants voting rights to Nepalis living abroad.

Speaking at a party announcement event held at the Everest Hotel in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dhungana said that the formation of his party was not driven by electoral ambitions but by a commitment to systemic political reform.

“Our main agenda is to ensure a directly elected executive and the right of Nepalis abroad to vote. Without these two conditions, we will not take part in the elections,” Dhungana stated. He further said that genuine change requires structural transformation rather than participation in the existing political setup.

Calling on members of the Gen Z movement to unite under one banner, Dhungana said that scattered activism would not bring about real change. “The energy of this generation should now be organized. Only through unity can we challenge the old political order,” he added.

Dhungana, who rose to prominence during the September 8–9 Gen Z protests, is among a growing number of youth activists seeking to translate the street movement into a political force.
