KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Karnali Yaks became the first team to be eliminated from the second edition of the Nepal Premier League after suffering a 34-run defeat to Pokhara Avengers on Tuesday.
With the loss, Karnali exited the tournament one match early, having managed only two points from six matches. Pokhara, meanwhile, raised their tally to four points from five matches.
Chasing a daunting target of 202 runs, Karnali were bowled out for 167 runs in 19 overs. Mark Watt top-scored for the side with 59 runs, but his effort was not enough to keep the team in contention.

For Pokhara, Rishi Dhawan picked up the most wickets with three.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Pokhara posted 201 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
It was the second-highest team total of the ongoing season. Earlier, Biratnagar Kings had scored a record 220 runs against Pokhara, the highest total in the history of the league.
Adam Rossington anchored Pokhara’s innings with an unbeaten century, scoring 108 runs. Jason Roy added 46, Dhananjaya Lakshan remained unbeaten on 23, while captain Kushal Bhurtel chipped in with 18 runs.
For Karnali, Nandan Yadav and Mark Watt claimed one wicket each.
