KATHMANDU, July 15: Meteorologists have predicted a gradual increase in rainfall in central and western Nepal in the coming days.
Sanjeev Adhikari, a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, said that although rainfall decreased on Wednesday compared to Monday and Tuesday, it is expected to increase in central and western Nepal from Thursday.
According to the department, the ongoing monsoon system is affecting the entire country. It said there are signs of increased rainfall in central and western Nepal as the monsoon’s low-pressure line has shifted north of its average position toward the Tarai region of western Nepal, while remaining close to its average position in the east.

Adhikari said weather conditions in the mountainous and Tarai regions are currently partly to fully cloudy. In the past 12 hours, the highest rainfall of 54.8 millimeters was recorded in Bajhang.
Similarly, the department said rainfall occurred in Sindhupalchok and some areas of Koshi Province over the past 24 hours.
Meteorologist Adhikari said moderate rainfall is likely in the mountainous regions, while hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces may also receive rainfall.
Although some parts of the Tarai regions of these provinces may also experience rainfall, Madhesh Province is expected to receive comparatively less rain.
The department has advised people in areas receiving heavy rainfall to remain cautious around rivers, landslide-prone areas and locations with weak terrain.
