KATHMANDU, May 16: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has reappointed Umesh Shrestha as the party’s treasurer.

According to a statement issued by the party, Shrestha has been nominated to the post of treasurer in the Central Working Committee (CWC) under Article 21 (4) of the party statute.
Shrestha had also served as treasurer in the CWC formed after the party’s 14th general convention. A businessman and educationist, his earlier appointment had drawn strong criticism within party circles during Deuba’s leadership, with internal voices questioning the decision.
