KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Nine major highways in three provinces have been blocked following floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall on October 3 and 4.
According to Police Headquarters, highways in Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali provinces have been obstructed due to the recent downpours.
The Koshi Highway has been blocked at Barunkhola in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 and at Ekuwa in Makalu Rural Municipality-3 of Sankhuwasabha district.

Floods and landslides have also obstructed the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 and the Tamor Corridor at Tumbewa Rural Municipality-2 in Panchthar, said Nepal Police Central Spokesperson DIG Binod Ghimire.
Similarly, sections of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2 of Rasuwa, the BP Highway at Mamtikhola in Roshi Rural Municipality-11 of Kavrepalanchok and at Nepalthok in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1 of Sindhuli have also been blocked.
DIG Ghimire added that the Karnali Corridor Highway is completely obstructed at Kurilla of Kharpunath Rural Municipality-5, Humla and at Jugenikhola of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality-8, Kalikot.
Police said one-way traffic has been resumed on the Koshi Highway in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-1 of Dhankuta district and on the Kanti Highway at Baguwakhola in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8 and at Ghattepakha in Bakaia Rural Municipality-11 of Makwanpur district.
