Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development Sher Bahadur Budha said the upgrade from Tripurakot to Moure Lek has been approved with Rs 259.98 million under a contract-based system. Once complete, the road will improve access for local residents, tourists, and connect Rara and Phoksundo lakes.

The road is expected to boost tourism in both districts and allow locals to engage in tourism-related businesses, generating income. Budha also mentioned that a budget of Rs 40 million has been allocated for a road linking Chungard and Liku to Balangra, which will begin soon.

Tek Hitan, chief of Dolpa’s Infrastructure Development Office, said the road forms part of a long-term plan connecting Tripurakot, Chal, Kaigaun, Moure Lek, Jumla, and ultimately Rara Lake in Mugu. The contract for the two-year project was signed last June.

The construction company will upgrade a total of 68 kilometers on the Tripurakot–Moure stretch. Since the route has already been cleared, the budget will fund a gravel road with drainage up to the sacred Budhal Masht Temple in Chhal, Hitan added.
