RSP’s Timilsina defeats Prakash Sharan Mahat in Nuwakot–1

The 43-year-old Timilsina secured victory with 22,609 votes, while his closest rival, influential Nepali Congress leader and former minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, 66, received 18,597 votes.

KATHMANDU, March 9: Bikram Timilsina of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Nuwakot–1 in Bagmati Province.

The 43-year-old Timilsina secured victory with 22,609 votes, while his closest rival, influential Nepali Congress leader and former minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, 66, received 18,597 votes. Meanwhile, Hit Bahadur Tamang, 62, of the Nepali Communist Party, secured 13,377 votes, finishing third.


Defeating established leaders and traditional political forces, the RSP has swept Nuwakot’s two constituencies..
