BARAHATHWA, Jan 4: The severed head of forest guard Rameeshwor Mahato, who was brutally murdered in Ishworpur of Sarlahi district, has been recovered.
Mahato, who was working as a forest guard at the Sagarnath Forest Project under Ishworpur Municipality, was found murdered with his throat slit on Saturday (January 3). His headless body had been discovered earlier that day.

According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, information officer and DSP Saroj Rai, Mahato’s head was found on Sunday afternoon about 100 meters away from the site where the body was recovered.
A special police team, along with two sniffer dogs, had been deployed from Lalgadh in Dhanusha to investigate the murder. Police said one person has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the killing, though the identity of the suspect has not been made public.
Police said Mahato had gone toward the forest on his bicycle on Saturday morning after hearing the sound of trees being cut. When he failed to return home for a long time, his family began searching for him.
Following the murder, locals have been gripped by fear, said Surendra Bahadur Karki, ward chairperson of Ishworpur Municipality–2. Police said further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
