Elections are the cornerstone of democracy, says Home Minister Aryal

In a video message from his secretariat on Tuesday, Minister Aryal stated that the government has been mandated to hold elections on March 5 by establishing good governance and the rule of law.

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that elections are the cornerstone of democracy and hence the opportunity to vote should not be missed.



In a video message from his secretariat on Tuesday, Minister Aryal stated that the government has been mandated to hold elections on March 5 by establishing good governance and the rule of law. He also requested all eligible voters to register their names in the voter list to ensure their voting rights.

"Elections are the cornerstone of democracy. Therefore, the main basis for ensuring everyone's right to vote is to register their names in the voter list", he said while referring to the latest provision that allows people to register their names through the online system based on the details of their national identity card.


He also made a public appeal not to miss this opportunity, as the registration period has been extended to November 21.
