KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The Employment Permit System (EPS) of South Korea on Monday opened applications for the first phase of the Korean Language Proficiency Test for 2025.
The first phase of the language test aims to recruit 5,300 Nepali migrant workers. Of the number, 3,500 will be selected for the manufacturing sector and 1,800 in the livestock farming in South Korea.

According to the EPS section under Nepal’s Department of Foreign Employment, interested Nepali citizens can apply for the Korean language test until August 16. An individual can apply for only one sector.
In fiscal year 2024/25, a total of 14,224 Nepalis took labor permits to work in South Korea. According to the government statistics, more than 110,000 Nepalis went to the country as migrant workers, while 50,000 of them have been working at present.
