Ex-PM Shrestha airlifted to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Former Prime Minister Marich Man Singh Shrestha, who was undergoing treatment of lung cancer at Vedant Hospital in New Delhi, has been airlifted to Nepal on Tuesday night as his condition did not improve.



Shrestha, who had been treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Medant Hospital before airlifting to Nepal, has been kept at Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital in ventilator.[break]



Meanwhile, Singh´s family had sought government, I/NGOs and other concerned authorities to provide financial support for Shrestha´s further treatment.



According to them, the per day treatment cost is around 50,000 Indian rupees and they are facing funds crunch.



Earlier, government had decided to provide Rs 5 lakh, however, family members are yet to get the received amount.



Shrestha served as prime minister from 1986 to 1990.
