Final rounds of President's Shield in Pokhara

KATHMANDU, July 17: National Sports Council (NSC) is organizing the final rounds (the central level) of President's Running Shield from Saturday in Pokhara, Kaski. It is the first time that the final round of the event is being hosted outside the capital in its run to seventh edition.

The three-day event originally scheduled to be held on May was postponed twice due to devastating earthquake of April 25 and the following aftershocks. On the both occasion, the event was scheduled for Kathmandu.

The final round of the President's Shield will see players vying for 60 golds including 38 in athletics, two in volleyball, eight in karate, and six each in wushu and taekwondo.

Altogether 370 players from five development regions including 74 from each regions will participate in the event. The teams finishing in top three positions will bag purse of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

The top three finishers of each individual games will be give Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 while the members team game will receive Rs 1500, Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively. Similarly, the player to set new record at the school level will be rewarded with Rs 10,000.
