None have claimed responsibility and the police are clueless about who were involved. They were still trying to figure out the motive and the type of explosives used at the time of filing the report. The police have not found even the pieces from the explosive used in the blast.
"It cannot be pressure cooker or socket bomb as there has been no use of wires. We need some time to find out the type of bomb used," Chief of Banke Police Mahesh Bikram Shah said even as some security personnel suspected use of a timed-device. Underground outfits operating in the district have been mostly using socket bombs.
The blast, in front of the building that has Machhapuchchhre Bank on the top floor, comes at a time when the Tarai Janatantrik Mukti Morcha has intensified extortion drive among the businessmen since the last one month.
Dilli Raj Regmi, whose left leg was destroyed by the blast, and Shiva Raj Chalise, whose right hand was seriously injured, have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Ram Hari said the bomb suddenly went off at around 4:30pm when he had reached the store along with his uncle Shiva Raj to purchase materials for the construction of wildlife resort at Thakurdwara, Bardiya.
