PARSA, Dec 25: Goods and commodities worth Rs 39.97 billion were exported to foreign countries through the Birgunj Customs Office during the first five months of the current fiscal year (FY).
Compared to the same period of the previous FY, exports through the checkpoint increased by 89 percent, or Rs 18.79 billion. During the corresponding five months last FY, exports stood at Rs 21.18 billion.

Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista said exports through the checkpoint had recorded a significant rise in the first five months of the current FY.
According to the office, processed soybean oil worth Rs 20.76 billion was exported during the period. This was followed by fruit juice worth Rs 3.07 billion, processed sunflower oil worth Rs 2.87 billion, and processed palm oil worth Rs 1.97 billion.
In addition, various types of garments worth Rs 1.50 billion were also exported through the checkpoint, the office said.
