KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 54.12 billion through the Birgunj Customs in the first four months of the current fiscal year (FY), which was 9.60 percent more compared to the same period of the last FY.
The records with the Birgunj Customs Office (BCO) show that the imports of diesel, petrol, cooking gas, aviation fuel and kerosene surged by Rs 2.93 billion during the review period. Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 51.19 billion via the customs point during mid-July and mid-November of FY 2024/25.

Diesel import increased to Rs 24.40 billion from Rs 21.83 billion and petrol import increased to Rs 14.27 billion from Rs 12.43 billion. Likewise, the BCO witnessed a surge in import of cooking gas to Rs 9.77 billion from Rs 11.10 billion.
The government earned customs revenue of Rs 22.90 billion from imports of petroleum products. In the review period last FY, the customs revenue under the heading stood at Rs 20.89 billion.
