Indian national arrested at TIA with 1.159 kg gold

An Indian national has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with over one kilogram of a semi-solid substance resembling gold.

KATHMANDU, June 18: An Indian national has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with over one kilogram of a semi-solid substance resembling gold.


A 53-year-old, Meena Surjit Singh Khemani, was arrested at the airport for carrying over one kilogram of the substance.

On Tuesday night, the police detained her at the arrival customs area tunnel of the airport. Upon inspection, approximately 1 kilogram and 159 grams of a semi-solid substance that looked like gold was found with her.


She had arrived in Kathmandu from Sharjah via an Air Arabia flight. Suspicion arose during the check, leading to the discovery of the substance.
