Kathmandu emptying out as over 100,000 leave in 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: In the past 24 hours alone, 111,639 passengers have left the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain. According to the Valley Traffic Police Office, from Ghatasthapana on September 22 up to Phulpati on Monday, at least 467,977 people have exited the Valley in 83,087 vehicles.



During the same period, 252,755 people entered the Valley in 61,781 vehicles, the Traffic Police reported.

Nareshraj Subedi, spokesperson for the Valley Traffic Police Office and Superintendent of Police, said that with Dashain approaching, the number of people returning to their hometowns has surged, leading to a significant increase in vehicle flow in and out of the Valley.


In the last 24 hours alone, 18,613 vehicles left the Valley, while 61,822 passengers entered Kathmandu in 13,929 vehicles.
