MoFA, NTB organize outing for foreign diplomats

KATHMANDU, May 9: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is taking a group of Kathmandu-based diplomats on a tour to Dhulikhel and rafting on Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers.



Ambassadors from US, Brazil, Switzerland, Australia, Sri Lanka Thailand and Israel have already confirmed their participation in the three-day outing, according to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The US and Swiss ambassadors will be accompanied by their spouses. [break]



Senior officials from World Bank, DFID, Asian Development Bank in Kathmandu and MoFA officials are will also participate in the tour organized jointly by MoFA and Nepal Tourism Board. After one night stay at Dhulikhel, the group will head for Dolalghat for rafting on Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers.



A group of diplomats were taken to Rara Lake in Mugu and other tourist spots last year.



Joint Secretary and Chief of Protocol at MoFA Niranjan Man Singh Basnyat, who is coordinating the tour, said the team will return to Kathmandu Sunday evening. “This is an initiative to maintain cordial relations between the host country and the diplomatic community,” he said.
