Sita Chaudhary consumed poison and then fed poison to her two sons -- 5-year-old Subham and 3-year-old Aryan, according to police.[break]
Our preliminary investigation shows that the mother consumed poison first and then poisoned the sons, said police inspector Babukaji Giri at the Area Police Office (APO) in Lamahi.
"We recovered a bottle with ´poision´ imprint from the place where where the incident took place. Along with this, we also found two empty wrappers of instant noodles," said Giri
The police said Sita might have mixed the poison in the noodles and fed the children. "However, we have yet to find out the reason why the woman took such a gruesome step. Further investigation into the case is under way," Giri said.
Her husband, Banarashi Chaudhary, was not in the house at the time of the incident. "When I reached home at around 8 pm, I found my wife and children writhing in agony in unconscious state," said Banarashi. "Then, I immediately arranged for an ambulence to take them to the hospital, which is 15 kilometers away in Lamahi, but they could not be saved. According to Area Police Office in Lamahi, the three breathed their last on their way to the hospital.
Banarashi told the police that he did not have any dispute with the wife previously. "On Saturday morning, she insisted me to go to the nearby forest for firewood but ignoring her request, I set out for making bricks as we were planning to build a house," he said, adding, they just had a minor dispute over collecting the firewood.
His elder son, Subham was studying in grade one at a school in the village while his younger son, Aryan had started to go to school very recently.
A team of police from the APO had reached the incident site on Saturday night.
