KATHMANDU, June 30: Monsoon winds continue to sweep across most parts of Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently located slightly north of its average position near western Nepal. As a result, the country is experiencing generally cloudy skies and a high chance of rainfall.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Hilly areas in the remaining provinces may also see intermittent showers.

Some areas, especially in Sudurpaschim Province and isolated hilly regions of other provinces, may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. In higher hill and mountainous areas, light to moderate rain or even snowfall is also likely.
The weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy tonight. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in several parts of Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with some hilly areas elsewhere.
Additionally, there’s a possibility of intense rain in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces. High-hill and Himalayan regions may experience scattered rain or snowfall.
