SUDURPASCHIM, Sept 27: Though rainfall within the normal range is occurring across most areas of Sudurpashim Province, the risk of heavy monsoon rainfall has subsided.
According to the Nepal Meteorological Department's Field Office in Attariya, a monsoon trough that developed and shifted from the Bay of Bengal has gradually weakened, minimizing the likelihood of heavy rainfall. The province has been receiving continuous rains since September 25.
According to chief of Office engineer Sanjay Kumar Shah, the low-pressure system has started to weaken since this afternoon. He said, however, that alertness is still needed. He added that there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in the Terai region this afternoon, while moderate rainfall is likely across the province from tonight.
