Polls by mid-Nov: Thakur

DHANGADHI, May 7: Chairman of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Mahantha Thakur has said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls would be held by mid-November at any cost.



Speaking at a press meet in Dhagadhi on Tuesday, Chairman Thakur also claimed that the dissident parties, including CPN-Maoist, will participate in the election. [break]“We have on our shoulders the historic responsibility of promulgating a new constitution. So I don´t think the parties will miss the opportunity,” he said.



He also claimed that the government was trying to forge consensus with the dissident parties and that the poll date would be announced soon.



Informing about the party´s ongoing discussion with other Madhes based parties, he said, “We have common agendas. So the chances are high that we may form an election alliance.” He also rubbished rumors about an election alliance with UCPN (Maoist).
