The SLC examination is just two weeks away.
“We are unsure how we will take question papers to exam centers in the west, especially in places where they have to be taken by land,” said deputy controller Gopal Bhattarai.
The office had dispatched two truckloads of questions papers, two for eastern Nepal and one for the west.
“The papers for the east reached Itahari on time, but those for the west reached Nepalgunj on Wednesday after a delay of two days,” Bhattarai said.
The truck reached Nepalgunj on Wednesday morning taking advantage of a curfew imposed on the town. The curfew was imposed to escort vehicles and passengers that had remained stranded for nine days owing to a strike called by the Tharu community.
Bhattarai said the office will not have problems taking the question papers to exam centers in hilly western districts on helicopters and planes. “But there might be problems taking the papers to exam centers in the Tarai districts,” he said. “We are monitoring the (political) situation.”
Talks between the Tharu community and the government ended inconclusively on Tuesday.
Over 4,22,000 students will appear for the SLC exams this year. They will be sitting for the exams at over 1,400 centers across the country. This year’s SLC examination starts on March 25.
