Sri Lanka lost its first group 2-0 against India on Wednesday. Maldives will play against India on Sunday in the three-team group.  India is at the top of the standings with three points, while Maldives and Sri Lanka are on one point each. The match against India will be a decider on who will go through.

Sri Lanka got plenty of chances but failed to convert any of them.

The first half was dull from Sri Lanka, but after the hour mark, it started creating more chances. Asikumar Rahuman shot from just outside the box was acrobatically stopped by Maldives keeper Mohamed Faisal in the 65’ minute, while Mohammadu Naizer Fasal’s shot from similar ranger a minute after that was caught by the keeper in similar fashion.

It was all Sri Lanka after that, but Sri Lanka missed all the chances to score as Maldives looked switched off.
