Bhairahawa thrashed Region No 2 (Birgunj) by 142 runs while Kathmandu beat Region No 7 (Janakpur) by three wickets on Friday at the Pulchwok Cricket Ground.[break]
Opener Madhu Thapa played a blistering innings of 92 runs off 72 balls for Bhairahawa to reach a huge total of 174/3 in allotted 20 overs. Thapa hit 15 boundaries during her innings and Indu Verma supported her well with unbeaten 36 runs.
In reply, Birgunj were all out for 32 runs in 11 overs as Khina Thapa, Bobita Giri and Indu Verma took three wickets each. The 17 runs through extras were the major chunk in the Birgunj total.
With the win, Bhairahawa completed their winning streak in group-stage and accumulated six points from three games to top the group ´A´.
Kathmandu are runners-up in the group with four points from three matches and booked semifinal spot with the victory over Janakpur on Friday.
Janakpur, electing to bat first, were all out for 72 runs in 17.5 overs. Sarswati Chaudhary (16 runs) and Sobha Ale (11 runs) were the only batswomen to score in double digits while Geeta Chudal claimed four wickets. Karuna Bhandari and Sarita Magar also took two wickets each.

In the run chase, Kathmandu met the target after completion of allotted 20 overs losing seven wickets. Despite failure of other batswomen of top and middle order, Sarita Magar anchored the Kathmandu innings with unbeaten 25 runs. Kathmandu gathered 19 runs from extras and won the match to reach last four.
