KATHMANDU, March 16: The cabinet on Wednesday decided to send two separate reports of irregularities to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for initiating legal actions against those implicated by the reports.

The two reports implicate those involved in the embezzlement of payments for APCs (armored personal carrier) and deforestations. [break]

Though a report prepared by a government-formed probe team unearthed embezzlement in the purchase of APCs, it had been waiting implementation for the last three months.

The CIAA is now in the final stage of its investigation into the high-profile corruption. According to Minister for Education Ganga Lal Tuladhar, who is also a government spokesperson, the cabinet meeting also directed the Forests and Soil Conservation Ministry to draft a new law to check deforestation.

The cabinet also decided to send a bill related to organized crime to the bill committee for discussion.
