The UML leaders chose to postpone the CC meeting that was being keenly watched as the party´s all-powerful body was expected to decide its stance and future strategy on formation of new government.[break]
Leaders said they instead decided to hold the party´s standing committee meeting prior to holding deliberations on government formation at the CC meeting.
"The CC meeting has been deferred until further notice," said the party´s CC member Ghanashyam Bhusal.
The party leaders said discussion on government formation was not urgent as the UML at its previous CC meeting had already decided to vote against the candidacy of Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel, the lone candidate for the prime ministerial post.
The parliament is scheduled to conduct the 17th round of voting for prime minister on January 12.
"We have already decided to vote against Paudel. Once the election enters a new stage, the CC can sit and take a decision," he said.
