Bangladesh plans for JV power plant with Nepal, Bhutan

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Bangladesh is mulling over to set up a joint venture hydropower plant with Nepal and Bhutan at Himalayan basin.



Dhaka-based The Financial Express newspaper reported on Friday quoting to Bangladeshi Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury that the country is planning to set up the hydropower plant with Nepal and Bhutan. [break]



“We’ve already floated the idea and we’ll discuss our plan with Nepal and Bhutan by this month. This initiative has been taken as part of the government’s strategy to utilize energy potential in the region,” the Financial Express quoted Chaudhury in its report.
