KATHMANDU, July 15: CPN-UML lawmaker Ganga Devi Shrestha has warned that growing public frustration could eventually reach a breaking point due to the government’s working style.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Shrestha criticized the government’s approach, describing it as “drama.”

“The government creates drama by placing vehicles on the road, and it itself stages the drama of taking action. The government is quite an artist. This is not normal. Where was this script written? It is like being both the witch and the shaman,” she said.
Shrestha accused the government of manipulating public emotions and sentiments, saying there was a wide gap between the promises made before the election and the reality after coming to power.
“Before the election, they remained silent; after the election, squatters’ settlements were cleared. Quietly, people were sent to holding centers; quietly, educational centers were shut down,” she said.
Targeting the Rastriya Swatantra Party, she added, “They asked mothers to vote for the bell symbol, saying they would return home. They promised people that they could earn Rs 200,000 while staying at home. But ironically, within a month, squatters’ homes were demolished.”
